Co-Founder & CEO of UMEED since 2014. MA in Social Entrepreneurship from USC Marshall, Teach For India and Acumen Fellow. Leads FirstLeap and Sahyog, empowering 80,000+ women across 133 colleges in Telangana through skills, mindset, and systemic change.
Our Story

UMEED was born in 2014 from a refusal to accept the silence demanded of women. While serving as Teach For India Fellows, we witnessed a devastating reality: when a mother lacks agency, her children's futures are compromised. Driven by the same fire we felt growing up navigating these "normalized" boundaries ourselves, we founded UMEED as a lifelong response to a status quo we could no longer witness in silence. Today, our work has scaled by turning once-restrictive gatekeepers into lifelong advocates for a woman's voice.

Headquartered in Hyderabad, India, UMEED operates across the state of Telangana, where our initiatives are deeply rooted in empowering women and integrating into individual, familial, and educational ecosystems.

Program Participant Testimonials
Change is felt first by the women, families, and educators our programs reach. Here is what it sounds like in their own voices.
The Umeed-FirstLeap program helped me know myself better and understand my self-worth and self-respect, which gave me faith in my decisions and a firm, clear vision.
As uneducated parents, higher education felt completely out of reach for our family. But our daughter brought home the program cards and mapped out a clear plan. She showed us what was possible and gave us the confidence to say: if you study hard, we will support you.
Very useful to us and the students also. This helped us understand the gap between the company's expectations and the student's skills.
