When the COVID pandemic hit the world, like everyone, we too grappled with uncertainty for the future. But while we cautiously paused, we also realized that the essence of our work couldn’t wait.
It was evident at the beginning itself that the effects of the pandemic were to be borne unequally by sections in our society. Women, especially from the marginalized sections were the worst hit.
Fake news spreads faster than this virus itself and this gap in information is not only harmful to women and their families but also has a major deterrent effect on the pandemic control efforts by the government.

OUR SOLUTION

With Umeed’s COVID-19 Information Series

We aimed to bridge the gap of access to accurate information faced by women in marginalized and low-income communities, by developing easy to understand content and disseminated the videos via a trustworthy and easily accessible communication platform – Youtube. Each video had well-researched, fact checked content broken down and designed in a way that can be easily comprehended by our women beneficiaries in a language they understand.

OUR APPROACH

We researched and created content that covered the latest COVID19 health and safetyu pdates, and pertinent women issues that had magnified during thelockdown period
The researched content was developed into women-friendly multilingual videos that contained information broken down for easy comprehension and deeper understanding
Finally, the created videos were disseminated through multiple channels like Youtube, social media and amplified by using digital marketing, civil society groups, partner organization networks,in making the end product reach the most vulnerable women and their families.
